Gardening initiative

In conjunction with Churchill Academy and a local almshouse, the church arranged for Emma, a student at Churchill Academy, to carry out some gardening in order to achieve her bronze Duke of Edinburgh award - which she duly got (congratulations Emma!).

Emma helped a resident who was not able to keep up to date with their gardening and took advantage of the opportunity to chat to other residents and draw on their wisdom and knowledge.  A member of the church congregation, Malcolm, also helped. The pictures on this page show what was achieved by Emma's hard work. We're about to harvest some potatoes so there might be a few more pictures soon.

In an age where the distance between people seems to widen, this initiative is a good example of young and old helping each other and learning from each other and, hopefully, helping to make the world just that bit friendlier for everyone.
